Drawing with a brush can seem like it should be an easy skill. How different can it be than a pencil?
Somewhat surprisingly, it doesn't translate one-to-one. An artist could do fantastic work with a graphite pencil and not have that same level of control when drawing with a brush. Learning to draw with a brush is its own unique skill.
But by all accounts, as watercolorist Frederick C. Graff says above, drawing with a brush is a skill worth learning.
