The Many Styles of Cheng-Khee Chee: Introduction & Interview with Cheng-Khee Chee

This DVD workshop brings you the unique opportunity to meet Cheng-Khee Chee AWS DF, NWS and learn his philosophy and styles of painting and how they have added emotional depth to his work. The ‘workshop’ is divided into two parts. In the first part you learn the four creative principles Chee has developed over his 38 years of intensive study, principles he adheres to faithfully. Chee shows you how to create your own bank account of creative imagery, with glimpses into his sketch book and painting studies. Chee presents and explains the importance of his six different techniques with beautiful examples of each style. Each approach has evolved to best express his feeling toward a specific type of subject. The demonstration of these techniques are the subject of his subsequent films: Traditional Watercolor Approach, Saturated Wet Process, Splash Color Technique, Crinkling Paper Technique, Marbleizing Technique, and Monoprinting Plus Painting. In the second part of this workshop you join a conversation with Cheng-Khee. The conversation covers an important and diverse array of topics including background, mentors, influences, jurying art shows, East meets West, inspirational factors, personal style and consistency, teaching workshops, Chee’s greatest aspirations and wisdom for beginners, just to name a few.
