A high-energy perfectionist, Janie Gildow, CPSA, specializes in dynamic realism through her colored pencil artwork. The clear, sequential presentation of her subject is derived from her years as a public school fine art teacher. For Janie, "Good art is a result of careful planning, creative expression, strong composition, excellent craftsmanship, and a confident and complete exploration of the medium."
While active in professional associations, Janie Gildow currently teaches at the Arizona Sonora Desert Museum Art Institute. She has taught workshops in Seattle, Idaho Falls, Pasadena, San Diego, Phoenix, Tucson, Ouray, Denver, Tulsa, Houston, Dallas, Memphis, Detroit, Dayton, and Chicago.
Her work has been published in the Artist’s Magazine, American Artist, International Artist, and many books including The Creative Artist, Creative Colored Pencil, A Celebration of Light, The Simple Secret to Better Painting, and The Best of Colored Pencil volumes 2,3 4, and 5.
Janie Gildow is the co-author of North Light’s Colored Pencil Solution Book, and author of Colored Pencil Explorations. She appears in two DVDs--Colored Pencil: Getting Started Right, and Colored Pencil: The Light Touch, both by Creative Catalyst Productions.
