Product Description

Jean Pederson’s gradual glazing process keeps portraits under control. You learn to build smooth facial contours with thin, deliberate layers of transparent paint.

Jean’s in-depth discussions of anatomy, lighting, and color provide all the tools you’ll need to capture the nuances of the human face. You’ll see short, intensive demos on map drawings, managing moisture, and layering values. Jean leads invaluable lessons on contour, facial proportions, and reflected light, and she applies every bit of theory in her final painting.
Jean blends and lifts to create multiple values from a single glaze. She develops the entire face with each layer to maintain control of her values throughout the process. She rarely mixes on the palette, instead layering bright pigments to create organic neutrals on the paper. Jean caps the portrait with a contemporary opaque background.

Jean Pedersen's DVD was just "Juicy". This is the way true watercolor should be.

I own the Pederson video and as I was off yesterday, I happened to watch it less than 24 hours ago. It is excellent... I have done watercolors for years, but learned a lot.

Who knew you could stick that painting under water like that. (Don't do it with Yupo, however, as it will be gone forever.) I have Jean's book, I've been aware of her award winning paintings for some time now. Seeing in person was just great. All you have to do is travel to the DVD player. how can you beat that?

I love owning the Creative Catalysts DVDs. Some I watch over and over (Like Carla's). I go to workshops, which are costly. These are like the workshop demonstrations and really when you think about it the cost is low, you don't leave the house, you can sit around in a robe, if you wish and enjoy them.

AND additionally unlike a workshop: If you miss anything said or done, you can rewind. Want to see it again, rewind. You own it, so you can revisit anytime you wish.

I'd give the Jean Pederson videos as many stars as are available in quality and excellence.

I wanted to let you know I purchased this video and I love it. I sometimes let it play, while I'm working in my studio. It's inspiring and full of great tips.

Jean Pederson's work is magnificent!--I learned a lot---wish she had more DVD'S!!... I do appreciate the scholastics..the years of experience and education rolled-up for me to absorb in a DVD, thank you..I could not have gone to college..paid the money required to study these amazing courses any other way, from a real starving artist---thank you!!!
