Oil painting is a medium in which many people aspire to become accomplished. However, oil is unlike any other painting material, and it takes time to develop the proper appreciation and skill set to be able to wield it with confidence.

In this 3 hour oil painting 2-DVD set, students have the privilege of joining master oil painter Richard McKinley as he demonstrates the step by step process that he uses to create his award winning compositions.

Throughout the course of this oil painting instructional video, students will enjoy McKinley’s concise instruction regarding the techniques of simultaneous contrast, aerial perspective and refraction. Artists will learn how to achieve that spontaneous dance of light across the palette of nature for which McKinley is so well known.

Designed for both beginner and intermediate painters, this workshop teaches novice artists how to apply McKinley’s time-tested techniques to achieve striking scenes in oil paint. You’ll learn how to focus on the area of a natural landscape that inspires you the most, playing with the evolution of light and shade, color and contrast, to achieve the desired effect.
